The John Carroll Catholic High School Baseball team participated in the annual Read Across America Day on Monday, March 2nd. This is the third year in a row that the team, led by Head Coach Jared Bonvillain, has spent the day visiting our Birmingham area Catholic Partner Schools to read in the classrooms. This year the team visited St. Francis Xavier, Our Lady of Sorrows, St. Rose Academy, Our Lady of the Valley, and Prince of Peace.

This annual day of service has quickly become one of the favorite activities that the team participates in together. "It's really fun to see the guys interacting with the elementary school kids. It stretches them out of their comfort zone and shows them the importance of connecting with people. Books are a great avenue for doing that," commented Coach Bonvillain.

Additionally, Coach Bonvillain, stressed the importance of mentoring and serving our Catholic Partner Schools. "Our Catholic Partner Schools are our future, and we hope this annual day of reading will help to ignite in them the Cavalier spirit."

Finally, for many of the players, Monday's Read Across America Day was a chance to revisit their own Catholic elementary and middle school classrooms and see former teachers and principals.

Thank you Coach Bonvillain and the JC Baseball team!
